As long as I can recall, certain things in life just struck me as funny. Sometimes that was from my skewed view of the world. Sometimes, from my laugh-to-keep-from-crying attitude. Sometimes, it’s just naïvety; I won’t get that somebody is actually serious about what they’re saying.
I refer you back to this post from 2005, when I revealed that I thought that Rammstein’s song “Du Hast” was hilarious. When SNL ran the “Kickspit Underground Rock Festival” video back in 2009, I thought it was one of the funniest, most ridiculous things they’d ever done. Then I figured out it was based on the Insane Clown Posse’s “Gathering of the Juggalos” and found out that the parody version was barely changed from the original.
Heavy metal usually amuses me. It’s often over-the-top and so serious. I guess Gwar is supposed to be satire, but they just seem like actual heavy metal to me.
I’ve mentioned before that I enjoy Family Force 5 to be funny. They’re doing that on purpose, right? I really enjoy their Christmas album Family Force 5 Christmas Pageant, at least the parts that don’t sound too sincere. In similar fashion, I found Thousand Foot Krutch‘s version of “Jingle Bell Rock” to be ludicrous. Does it mean anything that both acts are Christian rock? I dunno.
