Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah, and I usually include that in my holiday offerings. As I once quipped, “…Hanukkah songs (a.k.a. Chanukah, Hannukah, Hanukah, Chanuka, Chanukkah, Hanuka, Channukah, Hanukka, Hanaka, Haneka, Hanika and Khanukkah — so don’t worry, you can’t spell it wrong).”
Adam Gardner of Guster and Dave Schneider of the Zambonis teamed up to write indie pop-rock Hanukkah songs. As the LeeVees, they released the album Hanukkah Rocks (a version as a 4-song EP is also available). They sing the praises of latkes and Hannukah Harry.
Back in the Nineties, Adam Goren went from the punk band Fracture to a solo career as Atom & His Package. Around 2004, he ended up joining the band Armalite (which is still sorta together). He also teaches high school physics and chemistry at the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA. In this song, he answers a key question about the International Jewish Conspiracy: When do they plan their nefarious deeds?
