Last week, I was out in California at the WebbyConnect conference, the first annual summit staged by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the people who bring you The Webby Awards.
Very cool stuff; great bunch of attendees.
My new Spot-on column focuses on two of the keynote speakers: Michael Eisner and Arianna Huffington: Tornante, Indeed. To give you another bit of color from Huffington’s speech, she was talking about the ongoing debate about whether the Internet or print will rule as the supreme medium for news and information. She argued that it would be both and compared it to the classic bar argument about whom you prefer on Gilligan’s Island: Ginger or Mary Ann. Huffington’s solution was “Let’s have a three-way.” I also liked her definition of a blog as online writing that shows the “fingerprint of the author’s mind.”
I’ll be sharing other insights from the conference shortly.
