Higgins left the &lt;em&gt;Sentinel&lt;/em&gt; in 1986, to become a reporter for the &lt;em&gt;Miami Daily Business Review&lt;/em&gt;.  In 1989, he went to work at &lt;em&gt;Multichannel News&lt;/em&gt;, a cable trade publication.

In 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested in Milwaukee for a series of grisly murders.  Higgins would call me several times a day with the latest sick Dahmer joke making the rounds (this was before I had e-mail).  He seemed to have a real regret that he wasn&#039;t still a cop reporter for that case.</description>
