If you’re late to the party…

John Higgins at the 2006 Kaitz Dinner¡Bienvenidos! ¡Feliz Navidad! ¡Note the upside-down exclamation points! Come on in to the party…

So, if you are just arriving, let me explain where we are. On November 21st, sometime early in the morning, John M. Higgins died suddenly — shockingly — of a heart attack at the age of 45. Either you knew him personally, and you know he was a prince among men, or you’ve never heard of him and you’re wondering what the fuss is. This post went up the day John died and links to many news stories and blog posts about him. This post has more news stories and also has audio of Higgins being interviewed on the radio in his role as a trade reporter covering the television industry.

One of the things John and I shared was an obsession with collecting Christmas music, chiefly pop music. Last year, I posted 44 songs from my large collection. This year, I called my effort The John M. Higgins Memorial Xmasganza and I just used songs from John’s collection.

He was known for making mix tapes and CDs for people and several people made comments to me at his memorial about getting copies of his old ones. Why wait? Just download here and you can make your own personal Higgins Xmas Mix. I’d recommend rearranging the order a little.
