Honestly, I was very, very upset at the presentation of the award for Outstanding Individual Performance In A Variety Or Music Program during last night’s Emmy telecast. I was hoping that Stephen Colbert would win, but it was his first nomination and I knew his chances were slim. But then he loses to friggin’ Barry Manilow, for a crap PBS fundraiser special Barry Manilow: Music and Passion. In a field that includes Craig Ferguson, David Letterman and Hugh Jackman, goddamn Barry Manilow wins.
Is there no justice? Oh, right. It’s the Emmys.
But then there was a marvelous payoff when Colbert and Jon Stewart got up to present the award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.
