Back when I did my beloved (by me) week of Radiohead covers, I made a passing reference to acts in the College A Capella scene, with their attempts to hip up the material.
But there’s a different approach. It could be one man. A man with a vision, a USB mic and a copy of GarageBand. A man who goes under the name Indie Blockedappella.
Some of the tunes are little shaky, but they’re all entertaining. A few are spot-on. For example, here is IB’s cover of Wolf Parade’s “You Are a Runner and I Am My Father’s Son.” For comparison, here is Montreal’s own Wolf Parade performing that song on CBC Radio 3 in November of 2004.
