Today marks the first anniversary of this blog and here are more of my fave posts.
Nothing sells independence and rebellion than a plucky lil’ blogger attacking media giants, right? Sure, you could pick on someone your own size, but what’s the fun in that? I took a few shots of my own.
I was irked at The New Republic‘s Jonathan Chiat for an essay he wrote on Iraq and I gave it my own pop spin by dragging in Malcolm Gladwell’s book Blink. I accused the The New York Times‘ Michelle Slatalla of being a little prone to logorrhea, of a too-revealing sort. And in my only real “scoop” thus far, I caught the Times‘ Alessandra Stanley cleaning up some ghetto dialogue. Then, I compounded that attack by stooping to writing a mock Stanley review, which got the style correct (down to being riddled with errors), but never managed to be funny. I also got a little obsessed with Caitlin Flanagan, attacking her once for her piece in The Atlantic Monthly on teenaged girls purportedly on a blow job jag and again on the occasion of a profile in the LA Weekly.
I also took some shots at The Junkies and shock jocks in general. I took offense at some criticism that The Minor Fall, The Major Lift directed at Sarah Silverman, which wouldn’t be noteworthy, except that it led me to a (probably overly) lengthy examination of cruel humor.
Honest to gosh, I know that bloggers are supposed to make a habit out of attacking others, but I’m not really prone to that sort of thing. I ought to develop a taste for the straight razor, but I don’t have a thirst for blood. That said, when I am irked, then I will bitch about the target of my ire. I’ve got a blog and I’m gonna use it.

Forgot one. I also criticized the New York Times’ Joyce Wadler, for not using a Yiddish reference.
