You’ve possibly read coverage this week of the SXSW Festival. Did you know that Harry Shearer took his Le Show radio program to SXSW? He had musical guests, including Lyle Lovett and Shearer’s wife Judith Owen. I had never heard Owen sing before; I found her to be a little overly emotive, in a Tori Amos vein. If you visit the Le Show page on KCRW’s website, you can listen to the program.
Lovett was asked to sing one of Shearer’s favorite songs of his and it turned out to be one of my favorites too: “If I had a Boat.” In addition, John Boutte and Henry Butler perform and Shearer offers News From Outside the Bubble© and Reads the Trades for You©.
The show was taped last Friday at the Central Presbyterian Church in Austin, which adds a nice ambiance to the performances.
