“The Schrutes consider children very valuable.”

MICHAEL
Well, I’ll be in my office.

PAM
Don’t you think you should say something?

MICHAEL
They’re cool.

PAM
Michael, I think that as the boss, you should…

MICHAEL
Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine. Hi, children. I’m Michael Scott. And I am in charge of this place. How do I make you understand… I am… like Superman. And the people who work here are like citizens of Gotham City.

JIM & DWIGHT
That’s Batman.

MICHAEL
Okay. I’m Aquaman. Where does he live, guys?

JIM
The ocean.

MICHAEL
I work with a bunch of nerds.

  2. The Pop View Says:

Oh, God, yes. That was awesome.

Stanley, played by Leslie David Baker, has brought his 13-year-old daughter Melissa to the office. She keeps flirting with permanent temp Ryan. Kelly gets jealous and informs Stanley, who then goes off on Ryan in the employee kitchen.

That little girl is a child. I don’t want to see you sniffing around her any more this afternoon, do you understand? Boy, have you lost your mind, because I’ll help you find it. What you looking for? Ain’t nobody gonna help you out there. Jesus could come through that door and he’s not gonna help you, if you don’t stop sniffing after my child.

    Ryan’s reaction later:

Stanley yelled at me today. That was one of the most frightening experiences of my life.

It’s so funny, because Stanley is typically so mild, putting up with the most horribly racist behavior from Michael, because Stanley just wants to do the work and retire some day.

Kelly is played by Mindy Kaling, who also wrote this episode, among others.

She and Brenda Withers co-wrote and starred in the Off Broadway show Matt & Ben, which reveals the secret life of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck before they became famous. She was hired as a writer for the show and then played a key role in the “Diversity Day” episode. Kelly now has her hooks into Ryan; as he put it, her idea of having fun together is to get married and have kids right away.
