“Time goes by, so slowly.”

Happy New Year, everybody. I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who have stopped by, or linked to this site, or whatever it was you did. It’s been since six months since this blog started and the month of December been berry, berry good to me. Traffic doubled over November’s stats, going from miniscule to merely small. I’ll try to keep giving you reasons to visit.

You may have an interest to browsing this old essay from January of 2000, back in this site’s pre-blog days. The occasion of the so-called “millennium” provided a fascinating look at global culture. The trend that I noted has clearly continued, although I overstated it, since progess has been pretty slow. American culture continues to dominate everywhere, however much little bits of other cultures creep into our own.

You see it a little in films, with nods to Bollywood or Hong Kong action movies. It’s certainly easy for a blog to post an MP3 from any artist, anywhere in the world and if it’s good, people will listen to it. The Internet has leveled the playing field a trifle for pop culture, with more people having more access to culture for all over. Personally, I think it’s a good thing.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and send greetings. Hope you’re doing well.

Love your blog. Have learned a lot from it.
Please keep doin’ what you’re doin’…

Thank you very much, sir. And kudos to you on your own blog. I enjoy reading it, since we cover similar territory from very different angles. Here, much less erudite. For example, I have never seen one single frame of the Apu Trilogy, whereas I have seen the Evil Dead trilogy more times than I care to count.

I’ve seen (and love) both. The Apu trilogy is closer to my heart (perhaps because I am Indian) but I also have great affection for the Raimis.

    “…much less erudite”. Not true!
