Hope you have a great New Year’s celebration. Here’s one last bit of party music for the festivities. Earlier tunes here and here.
In December of 1969, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox (bass) and Buddy Miles (drums) rehearsed for an upcoming gig at Fillmore East. (Jimi’s first band was the Experience, with Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass. On this track, it’s the formulation known as the Band of Gypsies.) The band recorded a medley of holiday songs, and this recoding of “Auld Lang Syne” is taken from that mix.
Jump ahead more than 30 years, as Drums and Tuba offer their take on the classic. I featured D&T in a September post about N.O.
Read background on the song here.

Great posts…Bobby Womack’s version of “Auld Lang Syne” is still up at Soul Shower, if you’re interested. Dig it.
